Thailand Officially Allows Tourists With Visa Exemption and Visa On Arrival to Stay Longer.

Today, Government Spokesperson Traisulee Traisornkul said that the government has approved the temporary extension on visa-on-arrival and visa-free stays.  This means that tourists traveling to Thailand can stay longer in the country.

The administration expects that the temporary extensions would boost the economy and tourism which is still recuperating from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From October 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023, international tourists visiting Thailand are allowed for the following stays:

Visa on Arrival  – Travelers can extend their stay in the country up to 30 days. Visa on Arrival is available to passport holders from 19 countries. These countries are Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Vanuatu.

Visa Exemption – Passport holders from 64 countries that have bilateral agreements with Thailand can extend their stay in Thailand for up to 45 days.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) anticipates that the temporary extension will allow typical tourist’s stay in the country for 5 days.  TAT said that if tourists spend an average of THB 4,000 to THB 5,000 baht per day, the economy will get an additional THB 20,000 baht in revenue.

The CCSA or Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration met with the Thai government yesterday and approved the extension of visa on arrival and visa exemption.
