5 Destinations to Visit in Thailand

Thailand is truly a traveler’s haven. Tourism, after all, is the top reason foreigners apply for visa to enter into Thailand, and it is a must that you know where to go on your next holiday in the Kingdom.

Whatever your tastes for destinations are, there’s always a place for you to come and visit in the Kingdom. Let’s take a look at five particular destinations that you might want to check out the next you’re on holiday in the Kingdom.

You can also visit these places even if you’re in Thailand for employment with a work permit, or pursuing education in Thailand.

  1. Railay Island

Located in Thailand’s Krabi province, Railay is one of the many gems of the Kingdom when it comes to beaching and aquatic activities.

There are many things that you can do in Railay. You can put a towel and work on your tan in the white sand beach, fronting the sparkling turquoise blue waters of the Andaman Sea. You can exercise the adventurer in you with rock climbing or spelunking in the popular Diamond Cave.

Of course, there’s also scuba diving and snorkeling, staples of a beach holiday that one cannot do without.

  1. The Grand Palace

If you’re in the capital for business purposes or for a game of golf, you should add The Grand Palace to your bucket list for Bangkok.

There are no words enough to describe the splendor of the grand palace, except to say that the Palace is a fine example of Thai traditional architecture and a significant icon of the country’s colorful history. The Palace is actually a compound showcasing several important buildings, including the Wat Phra Kaeo.

Make sure to take one whole day off, which is as much time as you need in order to explore all of the magnificent halls of the Palace.

  1. Khao Yai National Park

Khao Yai National Park is home to Thailand’s most revered animal – the elephant. In here, you can find these great beasts roaming free and undisturbed within its expanse.

The elephants co-exist with several species of exotic animals, including birds and monkeys. The huge rainforest has more than enough space for them to exist, and itself offers natural attractions you should check out. Be sure to visit the waterfalls. Better yet, book a day or two of camping so you can fully appreciate the National Park.

  1. Sukhothai

Once the capital of the Sukhothai period of Thailand’s history, Sukhothai is very ancient. Yet, the hallowed halls and edifices still stand strong and proud until this day.

Be ready to be transported back in time when you visit the Old City. In here, you can find several ancient and revered temples like the Wat Mahathat – home to a number of giant Buddha statues dating back to the 13th century.

  1. Sunday Walking Street in Chiang Mai

If you’re in Chiang Mai, this is the best activity for your last day of holiday. Sunday Walking Street is a festival of cheap street foods and inexpensive souvenir items.

Treat yourself to local delicacies, all of them costing you less than $2 apiece. Once you’re done with your dinner, explore all of the stalls manned by locals waiting excitedly to offer you their wares. The selections are quite comprehensive too – anything from handmade soaps to souvenir items and even musical instruments can be found here.
