celebrities and influencers awarded with elite visa

In an effort to attract tourists, Thailand is taking a proactive approach by awarding celebrities and influencers with Thai visas valid for five years to attract Chinese and Hong Kong travelers. This is in response to Beijing’s recent relaxation of most of its Covid-19 travel restrictions. Thailand is hopeful that this strategy will help them regain the top two travel markets they had before the pandemic.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hoping to attract 800,000 tourists from Hong Kong this year. To show their appreciation for the assistance of Michelle Yim, Simon Yam, and Roger Wu in promoting Thailand’s tourist industry in China, the TAT has awarded them with Thailand Privilege Cards – also known as Thailand Elite Visas.

According to TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn, the 3 were chosen for their dedication and service to Thai tourism. Roger Wu is a 50-year-old food and travel blogger, Michelle Yim is an actress, and Simon Yam is an actor. Wu has a large fan base in both mainland China and Hong Kong.

Privilege Card holders are entitled to a 5-year multiple entry visa, luxury limousine transfers, fast-track immigration process, access to airport lounges, and a waiver of the 90-day reporting requirement. An Elite card with “elite privilege access” is priced at THB 1 million Baht, while the standard Thailand Elite visa costs THB 600,000 baht and is highly sought after by Chinese tourists.

Hong Kong and Thailand have always had a strong relationship, and many Hong Kongers consider Thailand to be a second home. To recognize the great contributions of Ms. Michelle Yim, Mr. Simon Yam Tat Wah, and Mr. Roger Wu Wai Chung, our esteemed influencers, to Thai tourism and their commitment to strengthening the bond between Hong Kong and Thailand, they have been presented with the Thailand Privilege Card, Friends of Thailand, and Tourism Authority of Thailand Appreciation Award.

They are dedicated to making Thai tourism accessible to everyone, and as a token of appreciation for all they have done, these awards were presented to them with the utmost gratitude. When Michelle Yim received the award, she expressed her delight at the progress of Thai tourism and gratitude for the recognition.

“Thailand is a true shopping paradise, and locals are renowned for their graciousness and courtesy. Not to mention, the delicious Thai food that is sure to please everyone’s palate,” said Roger Wu, showing his appreciation and his desire to spread a message of hope and optimism to other countries. He also encourages everyone to experience the Land of Smiles.
