Thailand’s public health minister Anutin Charnvirakul reported an increase in Thailand Pass applications after the removal of Test & Go entry program. He said registration has grown and there have been no reported difficulties with the improved process.

Anutin also responded to Thailand’s Covid-19 issue, stating that new infections and the number of cases and deaths continue to decrease.  This means less need for antiviral medicines and ventilators.

For the first time since February, Thailand’s new infections dropped below 10,000 yesterday. While the much-anticipated outbreak of infections after Songkran did not happen, He added that hospital beds, medicines, and healthcare professionals remain on standby.

The health minister said that the government has not yet determined when will Covid would be declared endemic in Thailand. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation in the hope of lifting more restrictions and returning to normal.

Thailand discontinued its Test & Go and Sandbox entry programs on Sunday, allowing fully vaccinated foreigners to enter the country without having to undergo a before travel and on-arrival PCR test. Tourists who want to travel to the country are still required to purchase health insurance with US$10,000 minimum coverage and register for the Thailand Pass. They are also ‘encouraged’ to do a self-test with an antigen kit on the 5th day of their stay.

Unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative PCR test result 72 before travel. Failure to do so will result in a 5-day hotel quarantine upon arrival.
