Tourism Authority Of Thailand And Airbnb Partnership Makes Life Easier For Digital Nomads.

Airbnb announced today that it will collaborate with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to provide convenience to remote workers who stay and live in Thailand.

The vacation rental company based in California, USA said that it is working on a number of projects, such as building a custom-built hub for Thailand that will show local long-term stay listings and give digital nomads information about visa policies and entry requirements.

The pandemic has changed the way many people work now, making it much easier for them to live and work in different places. So-called “digital nomads” have popped up in cities and towns all over the world, staying for weeks, months, or even longer.

TAT said that searches for international travel to Thailand for long-term stays went up by more than 50% in the first 3 months of 2022 compared with the same period in 2019.

Statistics also showed that 1 in 5 guests around the world used Airbnb in 2021 to work remotely while traveling. The number of long-term stays more than doubled this quarter compared to the same quarter in 2019.

Based on research from the Harvard Business School, it’s clear that remote workers and digital nomads can be good for any economy. They could also help start businesses in the places where they live, creating “technology clusters” all over the world.

According to Nathan Blecharczyck, Airbnb co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer, since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a change in the way people travel. Workers are no longer tied to their offices.  

“We want to make it possible for workers to take advantage of this flexibility and support the return of responsible and safe travel. We understand that travel economic growth a lot and brings people together from all over the world. We’re excited to build this one-stop-shop for people who might want to join the millions of workers who already enjoy the current trend of flexible work and travel.”

The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, was happy about the partnership with Airbnb.

“Thailand is always the best destination for long-term travelers and remote workers for a long time. Good local infrastructure, convenient access to communities, and a wide range of unique places for longer stays attracts people across the globe, as do our comforting hospitality and diverse culture. We are happy to work with Airbnb on its global “Live and Work Anywhere program” to bring long-term travelers to Thailand. This will help us rebuild the tourism industry and speed up the country’s recovery.”
