Tourism Authority of Thailand Partners with Bitkub Blockchain to Transform Thai Tourism To Be Smart Tourism

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in a strategic push towards technological advancement, has formed a partnership with Bitkub Blockchain Technology. The collaboration is designed to revolutionize Thai tourism through the development of a uniquely immersive, blockchain-based virtual world known as Bitkub Metaverse.

Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT’s Deputy Governor for Digitalisation, Research, and Development expressed enthusiasm regarding the partnership, “Embracing the digital economy through the ‘Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters’ initiative, TAT recognizes digital transformation as a pivotal game-changer. Blockchain technology, being a catalyst, can stimulate tourism and presents an opportunity for Thailand to pioneer the use of virtual reality in tourism promotion.”

With this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), TAT and Bitkub Blockchain Technology will jointly promote Thai tourism through the Bitkub Metaverse. The virtual universe will expand to feature an interactive Thai tourism information center and showcase renowned landmarks as well as immersive, year-round travel experiences. These are to be created with the aid of state-of-the-art 3D visuals and videos, replicating real-world destinations and sites.

This project embodies the next generation of web 3.0 technology and leverages digital assets to introduce an unprecedented dimension to tourism. The Metaverse will encapsulate a range of digital currency technologies, including NFT (Non-Fungible Token), Blockchain, Crypto, and XRB Token. Within this ecosystem, users can engage in virtual travel experiences and make real-world purchases of tourism-related goods and services using digital vouchers and NFTs.

With the lure of this immersive virtual experience, both Thai and foreign tourists are expected to be further intrigued and drawn towards physically exploring the beauty of Thailand.

Bitkub Blockchain Technology’s CEO, Mr. Passakorn Pannok, shared his optimism regarding the future of the Bitkub Metaverse. “Our partnership with The Monk Studio, a leading animation design and production firm, will offer users a genuine connection to their characters, thereby promoting Thai tourism and travel to both domestic and international audiences.”

The digital tourism innovation roadmap of TAT has previously included the launch of the ‘Amazing Thailand Metaverse: Amazing Durian’ initiative in April 2022, the ‘Thailand Travelution 2022’ exhibition in November 2022, and the dual-season ‘Amazing Thailand NFTs’ tourism experience in 2022 and 2023.
