Thailand Pass

Thailand’s Test & Go entry program reopens tomorrow after a brief pause, during which it was redesigned. The entry program is now open worldwide.  However, there are changes from the first Test & Go program since travelers going to Thailand will now be required to undergo 3 RT PCR tests in order to be eligible for the program. The first test must be administered 72 hours before departure from the country of origin.  The second test will be administered upon arrival and the third test must be done on the traveler’s 5th day of stay in the country.  Here are the requirements for quarantine free travel to Thailand:

Travelers who want a visa must apply in advance at their closest consulate or Thai embassy.

Travelers are also required to register and apply for a Thailand Pass which requires verification of proof of paid bookings at alternative quarantine or SHA Extra+ hotels for day 1 and day 5.

Travelers need to pay in advance their RT PCR tests on both days in the country.

Thailand Pass applicants must provide proof of vaccination with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before going to Thailand.  Approved vaccine brands in the country are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, and Covaxin.

A minimum of US$50,000 in health insurance coverage is mandatory. Individuals who have been infected and recovered from COVID-19 are still welcome to enter the country as long as they provide a certificate of recovery.

Thailand Pass requirements

In addition to Test & Go, the country’s Sandbox program continues to operate in Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Phang Nga, and Koh Tao) and will be extended to Chon Buri (Bang Lamung, Pattaya, Si Racha, Si Chang, Na Jomtien, and Bang Saray) and Trat (Koh Chang) starting tomorrow. The Sandbox still requires Thailand Pass which meets the same standards as Test & Go. However, the Sandbox program has an extra requires travelers to spend their first 7 nights in the same sandbox destination before the traveler can go anywhere in the country.  Like the Test & Go program, guests who will enter the Sandbox entry program will be subjected to RT PCR testing upon arrival and on their day 5 or 6.

For unvaccinated travelers, they are not allowed to register on Test & Go and Sandbox programs. Unvaccinated travelers are required to stay for 7 days in an alternative quarantine facility.

The Thailand Pass registration website will reopen starting tomorrow (February 1) and travelers can apply up to 60 days in advance of their travel.
