Time Out Magazine Named Yaowarat Road One of the World’s “Coolest” Streets.

The Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, Thailand was ranked 8th coolest street in the world in the most recent poll by Time Out magazine.  The magazine surveyed more than 20,000 individuals.

Last week, Time Out published their list of the 33 coolest streets. The rating is based on cuisine, entertainment, community, and culture.

Yaowarat is one of Bangkok’s oldest roads with a lot of history before Bangkok was founded. Surrounded by neon lights and buzzing day and night, Yaowarat is home to temples, restaurants, marketplaces, acupuncturists, and Chinese medicine distributors.

It has been a favorite of street food enthusiasts for years. Still, the neighborhood has recently seen the addition of nice galleries and premium restaurants, making Yaowarat known for its diverse culture.

Here are the top 10 coolest streets in the world by Time Out magazine:

2. Gertrude Street in Melbourne, Australia
3. Glasgow’s Great Western Road in Scotland
4. Yongkang street in Taiwan
5. Vaernedamsvej in Denmark
6. Karangahape Road in Auckland, New Zealand

8. Yaowarat Road in Bangkok

10. Hayes Street in San Francisco, California, USA

This year, Bangkok is ranked 51st among the top 53 cities in the world, while the Ari neighborhood of the capital is ranked 47th among the 49 coolest neighborhoods, according to Time Out.
